On April 17th, 2011, the howling wind did not stop our steps towards Baiwang Mountain.
At the foot the mountain, we surprisingly found that the so-called “mountain” is actually a two hundred-meter hill. It must be an easy case to conquer it. Hereupon, our climbing began in a joyful atmosphere. Soon after we set off, it began to drizzle. We braved the rain and took a winding path, which turned out to be difficult for us those who lack physical exercise. When we climbed about half way up to the hill, the drizzle stopped. To our surprise, the sky was seemingly split by a valley. On one side of the valley, it was bright. On the other side, it was overcast. Dark clouds arising in the opposite hills reminded us the legendary dreadful bogies in Pilgrimage to the West.
Chatting and laughing, we continued to walk our way and soon got to the top of the hill. Looking down, we got hooked on the unique lingering charm of the city in which we work and live. All of a sudden, the whole city was swallowed by roaring sandstorm, which did give us a shock. We profoundly realized the significance of protecting the environment.
The spring outing was ended with a big meal in a small restaurant, while happiness continued. |
