Shanghai witnessed an awful weather in January. It was blustering as if “Aeolus” had come to celebrate the coming World Expo. We were wise and farsighted enough to hold a Chinese New Year party indoor on January 31st, since it was considerably less subjected to the howling wind.
There successively arrived the participants. Most of them were fresh faces. Under the guide of those seniors, they easily found the seat arranged. We had reserved three tables. All the dishes ordered were simple. Preoccupied by the game after dinner, we bottled up the extreme sense of excitement and finished our dinner with affected calmness.
When got the “Remove” request, the waiters came and quickly removed the dinner table. Excitement gushed and the atmosphere became hot. We could not wait to start the game. Someone began to introduce the rules of the game. We were proud to find that most of the colleagues had amazing power of understanding. We learnt quickly and aspired to learn more. Several minutes later, we were all rubbing our hands with glee and confidence.
As the dice tinkled the bowl, we laughed, yelled, sighed or prayed. For fear of being the laggard, everybody kept energetic and bouncy. Although the result of the game was not satisfactory, it is the unexceptionable process that we enjoyed and cherished. |
